HYDERABAD: Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Sharma on Saturday issued orders to transfer Siddipet DSP Sridhar Goud and directed him to report to the headquarters in Hyderabad.
On August 17, Kukunoorpalli Sub-Inspector V Ramakrishna Reddy (45) had shot himself with his service revolver, over alleged harassment by DSP Sridhar Goud and other officers.
A note recovered from Ramakrishna’s house, reportedly written by him before ending life said that he was being harassed by his superiors for a long time and they are responsible for his death. Based on the allegations the DGP has ordered a departmental inquiry, and on Saturday, he issued orders, attaching Medak DSP Sridhar Goud to the head office, until investigation in the case concludes.
Subsequently, Akun Sabarwal, Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Hyderabad (range) visited the Kukunoorpalli police station and interacted with the staff. Later, he issued orders attaching Venkataiah, Siddipet Rural PS inspector, Ramanjaneyulu, Thoguta circle inspector, one assistant sub-inspector, two head constables and two police constables, to the Medak SP’s office.
The officials were attached to the SP’s office to ensure fair enquiry by the investigating officer in the suicide case.
Meanwhile, family members of the deceased SI Ramakrishna met Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy. V Dhana Lakshmi, wife of Ramakrishna, pointed that her husband wrote a 12-page long suicide note, explaining that factors that made him take the extreme step. She added that the R Pratap Reddy, Additional SP, Medak also made comments that had hurt them. “We request a judicial enquiry in the case and arrest all the policemen who harassed my husband,” said Dhana Lakshmi. Responding to the plea, Home Minister Naini assured fair investigation in the case.
