Actor Dhanush’s next production venture featuring superstar Rajinikanth will reportedly be a sequel to Tamil action-drama Kabali, according to a well-placed source.
On Monday, Dhanush shared on his Twitter page that he will be collaborating with Kabali director Pa Ranjith and Rajinikanth on a new project. “It’s going to be Kabali 2. Dhanush has taken permission from producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu to continue ‘Kabali’ franchise with the second part. The project, however, will only materialise next year, after the release of ‘2.o’ in the summer,” a source close to Dhanush told IANS.
Dhanush, known for producing films such as “Kaaka Muttai” and “Visaaranai”, will bankroll the project under Wunderbar Films.
“He pitched the idea and Dhanush really liked it. So much so that, he agreed to produce the film. It will be an interesting take on the Kabali character, and will be presented in a new light,” he said.
Dhanush has earlier announced that superstar Rajinikanth’s next film after Tamil science-fiction actioner 2.o will be in his production. “I’m so proud and honoured to announce our production’s next film,” Dhanush shared on his Twitter page.
He also attached a video with his tweet, indicating that he is collaborating with Rajinikanth and Kabali director Pa Ranjith. Dhanush is married to Rajinikanth’s daughter Aishwarya.
Rajinikanth and Pa Ranjith have already given us one of the year’s biggest hit Kabali. The film where Rajinikanth played a don who comes to the rescue of Malaysian Tamils while righting the wrongs done against him and his family reportedly earned Rs 500 crore worldwide at the box office.
